World Cancer Day

This year’s World Cancer Day theme is United by Unique. It’s a reminder that every cancer journey is more than just a medical diagnosis, it’s a deeply personal human story.

Did you know some Sexually Transmittable and Blood Borne viral infections can lead to or contribute towards cancer?

Long-term hepatitis B and C can cause liver cancer and untreated Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs), such as HPV (Human Papilloma Virus), are the causes of almost all cervical cancers.

Liver cancer is the fastest growing cause of cancer deaths. Around 2,000 Australians are diagnosed each year, and this number is predicted to increase to over 3,400 by 2030.

You can lower your risk of cancer caused by viral infections through vaccination, treatments, and by practicing safe sex.

If you are concerned about Blood Borne Virus or STIs, PEACE Multicultural Services can support you to access testing, treatments, education, and counselling.
